HE'S BACK, ALMOST...









NEWSDAY's NEIL BEST is reporting in today's paper that CITADEL is close to a deal to bring DON IMUS back to radio, although BEST says that it is "not immediately clear from where IMUS would be heard." CITADEL owns Talk WABC-A and AC WPLJ in NEW YORK; IMUS could replace CURTIS SLIWA and RON KUBY in mornings at WABC, or could be part of a format flip at WPLJ.

BEST adds that CHARLES MCCORD, who continued on WFAN after IMUS' firing but last appeared on AUGUST 31st, would accompany IMUS to his new home, but the possibility of former producer/sidekick BERNARD MCGUIRK rejoining IMUS is unclear.
