JUDGE MATHIS SUED BY LITIGANT IN HIS TV COURTROOM

A woman who appeared as a litigant on TV's "Judge Mathis" court show is suing Greg Mathis, Warner Bros and Telepictures claiming she was not informed about his current judicial status and was disparaged when Mathis referred to her as a hillbilly.

According to TMZ.com, Melody Burnham of San Diego says the show invited her to bring her lawsuit against a tenant to Mathis' court. The woman alleges producers never explained that Mathis was not a sitting judge in a real court.

Burnham's lawsuit, which seeks unspecified compensatory and punitive damages, also claims that when she appeared before Mathis, she was still kept in the dark about her case not being in a real court – despite the presence of television cameras, the show's crew and a green room. She also says she didn't figure out that it was a television show until more than a year later.

Additionally, Burnham alleges she was held hostage in a dressing room for six hours without food, and that she didn't know she was going to be countersued until minutes before the trial. She also says she was ridiculed by Mathis when he called her a "hillbilly" after pictures submitted into evidence showed her washing machine outside of her residence.

According to the lawsuit, Mathis dismissed the case, awarded damages to neither party, and stated: "I'm sending you hillbillies back to the hills.

A spokesperson for Telepictures Productions, the company that produces "Judge Mathis," tells TMZ: "We absolutely believe this case has absolutely no merit. Greg Mathis is a respected lawyer and former judge. The show, currently in its ninth season, follows strict procedures for case selection, releases and binding awards. All participants sign releases before appearing on the program and any allegations that this was not a real case are unfounded and fabricated. Judge Mathis' track record for advocacy and fairness to all speaks for itself."

well also fell victim to this scam as well.Although she maybe a hillbilly they do not tell you that this not real.In fact, you think it's all real because they present themselves as a real legal team out to serve justice. They constantly state that because they know that the contract that you will never get to read will say that the producers advice is taken at your risk. How would you know that if you have never seen the contract until after they have heard your case. If I knew this was all fake I would have never gone on there. They really flake me because unlike most people I didn't watch the show.I was contacted by the producers to come on the show from the court documents I filed with my local courts.I was only a week away from my default hearing with a real judge. How they were able to convince me is saying that I would need a lawyer to get my money even if I was awarded money from my case. She explained how it's years of court battles and attorney fees and they will help me with that by letting judge mathis hear my case.It was scam. All of it.I didn't have a clue until I got inside the courtroom and when the charade began. I even recorded a conversation afterwards when I confronted the producer who lied to me about everything and her admitting everything I'm saying to be true.If I could afford a lawyer I'm pretty sure I could've won a case against them as well. They were so slick until they were just messy. Those producers are snakes with no conscious and they would do anything to have unsuspecting people to appear on that show. That way they'll will actually have real cases as they will say but these people are totally unaware these people are fooling them the whole time. I had court documents, the whole nine. My case was good as won, but they had other plans so they totally set me up. Judge Mathis is a sick pig. How he ever became a judge is still pretty flaky to me. I don't believe anything about these people anymore other than they are wolves in sheep's clothing.
