Commentary: Barack Obama’s Decision to Leave Trinity Has Pros and Cons – But Ultimately, It Won’t Matter

I had a feeling that things would come to this.

Just as Bill Clinton once had to deal with the bimbo eruptions that gave right-wing nuts ammunition to make infidelity, rather than policy acumen or ideas, a campaign issue, Barack Obama finally had to deal with the preacher eruptions that right-wingers are now using to scare white folks into thinking that beneath his mixed-race pedigree lies a fearsome radical waiting to make black berets and black leather jackets a national uniform.

The most recent eruption happened when the Rev. Michael Pfleger visited Trinity United Church of God in Christ in Chicago and mocked Hillary Clinton for not being able to get over herself; for being upset about “a black man stealing my show.”
